The Central Securities Depository of Poland, KDPW was established under an act of Polish legislation in 1994 to perform the functions of a central securities depository in Poland. Since March 2020, KDPW has been authorised by EU authorities to provide central securities depository services, in particular to operate a securities registration system and a system for the settlement of transactions in financial instruments.
KDPW provides a range of post-trade services, including a trade repository (under EMIR and SFTR) and an Approved Reporting Mechanism (ARM), authorised under European Union law. KDPW is a numbering agency and issues LEI codes for legal entities in the Global LEI System as well as ISIN, CFI, FISN codes for financial instruments as a member of the international Association of National Numbering Agencies (ANNA).
KDPW operates a compensation scheme to protect the interests of investors in the event of insolvency of operators of securities accounts.

KDPW forms a capital group together with its subsidiary KDPW_CCP S.A. which performs the functions of a clearing house authorised under EU law as a central counterparty.

Grupa

The KDPW Group is made up of two Polish capital market infrastructure companies: the parent entity Krajowy Depozyt Papierów Wartościowych S.A. and its subsidiary KDPW_CCP S.A.

The KDPW Group provides the capital market with core services including operation of a central securities depository, clearing and settlement of transactions, as well as a range of complementary services, in particular trade reporting, issuance of identification codes for financial instruments and market participants, and distribution of market information and data.  

The activities of the KDPW Group companies are regulated by Polish and EU laws and are subject to the supervision of both the Polish supervisor (Polish Financial Supervision Authority, KNF) and the European supervisory authority (ESMA). Both companies have obtained EU authorisations to provide services across the European Union.
